Profile: Jerry Wiser

Jerry received his BS degree in Fuels Engineering from the University of Utah and has an interesting mix of research and industrial experience.  His 12 years in research began at the University of Utah working in heavy oil characterization and upgrading, and continued while working for a research company.  He worked developing tar sand upgrading, oil shale extraction, synthetic fuels from coal, and calcium carbonate purification processes.  The next 13 years were industrial; working for WesTech Engineering, Inc. as a project manager and process engineer in industrial water treatment.

Process control has been part of every job Jerry has done over the years in both research and industry.  His interest in process control started with writing simulated distillation routines and continued with computer control for pilot plants in a variety of unit operations.
